How pickup works
When it comes to picking up your RV or motorhome, we utilize specialized RV-transport flatbeds or drive-aways, ensuring your vehicle is handled with care. Often, pickups occur at storage lots, particularly if you’re not available on-site. It’s essential to coordinate with your RV park or storage facility to facilitate a smooth transition. Due to state regulations, most routes must accommodate a maximum height clearance of 13'6”, so we plan accordingly to avoid any complications during transport.
What drives donation value
The condition of your RV’s house systems—like the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning—plays a pivotal role in determining its donation value. Water damage can significantly devalue your vehicle, so maintaining these systems is key. Recent maintenance records can greatly enhance your RV's worth, especially during the peak donation season in spring. For classic models, consider getting an appraisal to provide potential value insights and comply with IRS Form 8283 Section B requirements.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title
- Service records
- IRS Form 8283 for appraisals (classics)
- Bill of sale (if applicable)
- Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (for off-road vehicles)
Rhode Island specifics
In Rhode Island, the DMV mandates that RVs and motorhomes have clear titles for donation. While some donors may opt for a bill of sale, it's advisable to ensure the title is properly transferred to avoid future liabilities. Understanding state regulations and necessary paperwork will make your donation process smooth and compliant, allowing you to contribute effectively to your local community.
